How to host an easy BBQ

With the holiday upon us many of us look forward to hosting a barbecue at home, but there’s so much to do! Here are some tips to make your gathering a stress-free success:

1. Go pot-luck style. Have your friends pitch in by bringing a dish. If you have a theme, then assign them to bring something specific. If not, look forward to trying something new.

2. Update the classics. If you’re tired of the same old coleslaw, why not spice it up a bit and look up a new recipe. Try one that substitutes canola oil for mayo and you may have just found a new party favorite.

3. Create a signature cocktail. You can’t go wrong with beer and wine but why not take it up a notch and make your own drink. Choose something that you can mix before hand and serve in a punch bowl or pitcher so you’re not stuck being bartender for the night.

4. Music makes it better. It’s your party so get together your favorite playlist and a pair of speakers and you’re good to go.

5. Bring on the yard games. Don’t own any? Don’t worry. You can easily create them yourself with a quick visit to the hardware store.

6. Keep your decorations and set up simple. A couple of strings of Christmas lights go a long way.

7. Don’t forget dessert! A summer favorite that many people wait all winter for is S’mores. They are easy to make and fun for people of all ages. If you don’t have a fire pit, you can assemble them and then bake them in the oven.

8. Don’t worry about getting dirty. Leave the mess to Best!
