Back to School Tailoring Tips

It’s back to school time which also means back to school shopping. And while many of us head to the stores before the school year starts, many of us can stretch the budget by going through last year’s clothes that might be a good candidate for repair or alteration.

Instead of  getting rid of clothes that are too small, too short, too big or too tight, why not bring them to a Best’s seamstress or tailor to determine what can be kept for another year. Here are just some of the many services offered:

Taking pant or skirt hems up or down.

Taking waistbands in or letting them out.

Taking sleeves up or letting them down.

Repairing small holes, snags or tears.

And speaking of holes,  don’t  let  those “holey” jeans go to waste! Have your kids pick out some patches that we can sew on and they’ll be their new favorites for sure.

Expandable waistbands often fit for much longer than the length of the pants.  If you have pants that are unable to be let down think about saving them for shorts or Capris for next year.
