Post Picnic Stain Removal Tips

Though it’s not officially summer, Memorial Day weekend is usually the unofficial kick off. Many of us celebrate with family gatherings, picnics and BBQ’s. As the weekend comes to an end and the festivities are over, we take a look around and see there’s a lot of cleaning to be done, and that’s where we come in. Here are a few tips to get those stains out, cleaned up and ready for your next event!

1. BBQ Sauce, Ketchup or Mustard – Try dabbing with a dry cloth to remove as much of the condiment as possible. Do not use water or club soda, they will set the stain and make it harder for us to get out.

2. Pickles, Vinegar, and anything with a more acidic base – We would recommend using a damp cloth to gently blot out the stain. Don’t rub as it may damage fibers in the fabric.

3. Red Wine – If you’re in a pinch use white wine to get it out! The white will neutralize the red, but remember the stain is not out.  You’ll need to bring it in for complete stain removal.

4. Grass Stains – Lawn treatments can make grass more potent, often making grass stains more difficult to remove. Getting your garments to us quickly will give you a better chance of complete stain removal.

5. Perspiration – As with grass stains we would recommend bringing the item in as soon as possible. The acidity in perspiration can often pull color from garments if left too long.

6. Most importantly, tell us the truth! Even if you panicked and used a “trick” from a magazine, it’s okay. We just need to know so we know what we are dealing with and how to fix it.
